A Program with a History of Quality
|
Commonwealth Journal originally
began airing in 1987, and was broadcast weekly on more than 30
radio stations around New England. Before production was suspended
in 1992 due to lack of funding, the show won several state and
international awards including:
- First Place, Public Affairs, Associated Press of Massachusetts and Rhode Island
-
First Place, Public Affairs, Massachusetts Broadcasters
Association
-
Silver Award, Public Affairs, International Radio Festival
of New York
When the show ceased production, it left a void in Massachusetts
media. A partnership between WUMB Radio and the Massachusetts Foundation
for the Humanities allowed Commonwealth Journal to be reborn in
1999.
Commonwealth Journal is produced by the WUMB Public Radio network
and is carried by nearly two dozen radio stations around Massachusetts.
WUMB is a National Public Radio affiliate owned by the University
of Massachusetts with studios at the University's Boston campus.
The program is distributed free of charge to radio stations
across Massachusetts. Each program is typically comprised of two
12-15 minute segments. For more information on how you can hear
Commonwealth Journal in your area, or if you are a radio station
